Yes I went last night!
The weather forecast this week is terrible so yet again most of my running will be done indoors at the gym. It is not as good as pounding the pavements but as I have paid my membership I might as well run while watching TV.
Also this week I think I may do a few classes at the gym a colleague of mine who is a member of the same gym has suggested I try a step class she says that unfortunately I will be the only man in the class!!!! Which seems a perfect reason to do the class and it will make a change.
Currently doing a 4 x 500m session on the rowing machine as part of my workout, now this is serious hard work rowing 500m in two minutes then a minute recovery. I burn off 33 calories in two minutes so 132 calories in eight minutes rowing! Trust me you know you have had a workout!
In other news, super Notts won again I just wish the season would end now!

Yesssssssss!!!!
My new ‘signed’ Lloyd Cole cd arrived today! Can’t wait to listen to it, it has one of my favourite songs on it ‘undressed’. So leaving work in just over an hour will stick it on my car stereo and listen to it on the way to the gym! Then home for steak & chips and watching the footy!
Notts won again last night! Four in a row and without conceding a goal. It was a local derby against Chesterfield and my son had a fiver riding on it!!
The veins (varicose!) feel like they are going to burst today I have got to wait until the 22nd when I have an appointment for a scan. Hope they are ok for the race!
Take care

Notts County’s new badge

Now my beloved Notts County have had somewhat of a rollercoaster of a season but hopefully we may now be on the long road to recovery!
A new badge may not sound like one of the most important things to resolve but it will be one step towards us the fans getting our club back!
Munto Finance who took us over and then proceeded to put the club financially down the toilet designed us a badge which quite frankly was a bit crap! The new owners who so far (touch wood!) seem to know what they are doing have given us fans the chance to provide input as to what the new badge should look like, whether it be a completely new one or one of the ones we have had in the past!
So I knocked up an email and sent it off with my suggestion you never know but anything would be better than what we have now! The badge I have suggested can be seen on the 'TOFFS' 1970-71 replica shirt above. Feel a bit sorry for the chap who had the Munto one tattooed somewhere on his body!!!
Have a good one and come on you pies!

I had a dream!
It is better to have had a dream and have that dream dashed, than to have never dreamed at all!
Monday, 2 November 2009
Arrgghh!! It’s November!
Ok, one half marathon left!
Clowne, I found my number yesterday had forgotten it had already arrived! I am number 4. Now it is quite hilly but I am looking forward to it the route takes me right past where my kids live so I should have my own little supporters club, if they can get out of bed in time.
Have not done any running this weekend which is a bit slack have had Sam my son so went to watch Notts County on Saturday and had my usual jinx effect. So I have not seen them win yet this season (was another draw!).
Will be running tonight, definitely…yes, unless it’s chucking it down.
cheers

Dark nights!
Don’t know whether it is me getting older or what but I am hating the dark nights. Years ago I never minded but I am finding it depressing and very hard to get motivated. I have not managed to venture out for a run since Sunday! Last night it was raining which made it even harder but tonight unless it is really chucking it down I have got to go out, will let you know tomorrow!
In other, better news Notts County’s takeover has finally been ratified by the Football League so Premiership here we come!
Work is officially totally shit and I am hating every minute of it so I think it’s finally time to look at ways of getting out of here.
See you tomorrow with hopefully a more cheerful post.

Sunday already!!
Total mileage this week equals 22 miles, not too bad!
At Mum & Dads at the moment and am feeling very full, huge Sunday dinner with chocolate pud to follow, well bloated!
Super Notts on telly this afternoon now they should win but I only saw one magpie driving over this morning which is a bit worrying so here's another!

Two weeks today till the Worksop half, proper eating and training now for fourteen whole days!!

Great game!
Stags 2 - 1 Oxford Utd, what a great game, fantastic!
Football rumours this morning are that Sol Campbell has quit Notts County not surprised he has a history of being a bit mardy! Think it will do the squad good galvanise the rest of the players.
After my night off last night it is out pounding the streets again tonight at least six miles. My next official race is the Worksop half marathon on the 25th October. But if the next week's training is ok I might sneak in a 10k before.
Am wearing my ankle support all the time at the moment it is getting better all the time, running is strengthening it and the only time it is sore is first thing in the morning but after a bit of stretching it is fine.
Cheers

Missing running!
Friday, 7 August 2009
Officially injured!
Bugger!
No running for up to two weeks, lots of ibuprofen gel and cold compresses!
So the trick is trying to keep fit so some cycling is in order also increasing the press ups and sit ups. Have also got to keep an eye on what I am eating as I won’t be burning off as many calories.
What to do this weekend? Well I have a barbecue I could go to Saturday night and I am trying to get rid off a lot of the rubbish I seem to collect so a few trips to a ‘charidee’ shop to dispose of various books & cds.
The footy season kicks off tomorrow and the Mighty Magpies are playing Bradford at Meadow Lane, I predict a 3-1 home win!! Go Pies!!
Cheers and have a good one

25/07/09 Heckington 10 mile Report
Woke up on the morning of the race to bright blue skies! The race was set to start at 10.00am however the info supplied by the organisers suggested getting there in plenty of time. So arriving at 9.20am we set off to find the start area. Heckington village show looked great something out of ‘Mid Summer Murders’! Animal shows, Vegetable, cake and flower displays with judging. Lots of stalls, livestock, classic cars & tractors, loads of stuff. Including of course the 10 mile running race as well as tug of war and cycling races.
The race started at 10.00am prompt on a grass arena which we did one lap of until leaving the showground into the village itself. The route was two laps of a very flat course the weather was very hot but there were plenty of water stations I was not expecting a quick time but on entering the village for the last time with less than half a mile to go it looked as though I might get under the 75 minute mark. Passing the church I felt somebody on by shoulder so kicked a bit and entered the showground feeling quite fresh. However the arena was grassy slightly uneven and the last 50 metres were hard work! I crossed the line in 1 hour 14 minutes and 36 seconds just under 75 minutes, very pleased!
I managed to get a sun burnt face but had fun!
A venison burger later I spent a good couple of hours looking round the show before going back to my Dads for a shower and a rest (also checking the footie results, Notts beat the red team from the wrong side of the Trent!! Huzzah!). 7.30pm and it was off to a party and a good time a few bottles of Spitfire, some interest from a laydee and then back to bed for a good nights sleep.
A good weekend and a new pb of 1:14.36 for ten miles.

Sprints and hills
July is made up of two 10k’s and possibly one 10 miler!
7th 10k Sherwood Pines
19th 10k Sherwood Pines
25th 10m Heckington
So I am going to concentrate on trying to get a bit quicker. As well as my long runs I am going to incorporate some sprint and hill work. My current best for 10k is 49 min 20 seconds set at Edwinstowe last December. My first 10k of this year is on the 7th at Sherwood Pines so I would like to knock off a couple of minutes.
Tonight training after a rest night last night will be a steady six miles followed by a couple of hill sprints. It is very warm today again so I will make sure I am fully lubricated.
My picture from the Mansfield Half has not arrived yet but as soon as it does I will share it with you. Until then here is a picture my brother took as you can see I take a crap picture when I know somebody is taking one!

ps the takeover of Notts County is going ahead! Champion's League here we come.

The Mighty Magpies!

FA Cup Winners 1894
My football team is Notts County and at the moment being a Notts fan is quite exciting, we may be being taken over by an investment group with lots of money who plan on getting the team into the Championship within four years. The takeover just has to be approved by the Supporter’s Trust who are the major shareholders. Unfortunately I let my membership to the trust lapse so have no say. But I hope they vote in favour of the takeover if not what would we (the fans) have to look forward too? Yet another season of being in the bottom half of league two?
As mentioned yesterday last night was a rest night whilst tonight I will be doing a run of approx 75 minutes, a nice steady/easy run of around nine miles. It is warm again so I am expecting to get rather sweaty so I will be using some Vaseline!
The forecast for Sunday and the Mansfield half marathon is drizzle now this makes a change from the heat I have ran my last two races in! My mate and his son are entering the fun run (1.5m) and are giving me a lift to the start and my brother and his wife will be there at the finish, will be great to have some support and hopefully I will be able to put in a good show.
No post tomorrow in fact no posts until Monday! I am off work tomorrow and have no internet access at home so a full race report will follow next week!
Have a good one
