Well it didn’t rain and the good weather I have had for all of my races (touch wood!) turned up again. It was windy but sunny and quite warm. Getting to Worksop at 9.30am to collect my number, number 35 my lowest number yet, it was quite cold so I was wearing my thermal adidas top under my running t shirt. Big mistake!
Starting near the back, it was chip timed so no need to battle at the front and as I was hoping for a sub two hours (still struggling with my fitness since my injury!) there was no need to go off to quick.
The Worksop route is quite undulating with the worst hill in the first mile however once done you know that the last mile is down the same hill! At approx mile 4 I was way too hot time to lose the thermal top. So I stopped at the side of the road took off my running top then attempted to take off my thermal top. However being a total numpty I forgot to take my watch off first so my top was stuck on my wrist, I had to feed my arm back through the sleeve and finally managed to free myself. That was about 3 minutes I wasn’t going to get back!
Clutching my thermal top in my hand off I set looking out for my brother so I could give him my shirt to look after. At mile 5 there he was. Running through Clumber Park I felt ok got a cheer from my mother at about 6.5miles which spurred me on at mile 8 started to get tired but carried on and then got my second wind at mile ten and then was fine till the end. Even managed a sprint finish.
Time was 1:53.52 still nowhere near my best and not as quick as last year. But I was pleased and it shows my recovery is progressing.
Worksop Half Marathon stats:
Time: 1:53.52
Position: 900ish!
Condition: Getting there!

Fifteen Miles!!
Ran three miles on Friday had a rest day Saturday but on Sunday I decided it was time for a long one so I did a steady fifteen miles. It took me 2 hours 15 minutes and apart from sore hips I felt ok!
The route took me from,
Forest Town to Mansfield Woodhouse to Spion Kop to Warsop to Warsop Windmill to Goosethorpe to King’s Clipstone to Clipstone and then back home to Forest Town, fifteen miles of ups and downs.
Then settled back and watched Jenson Button finally win the F1 World Championship. Jenson is my favourite driver and he drove a fantastic champion’s race.
Count down to the Worksop half continues with a steady three miles tonight including a few sprints!
Cheers, and don’t let the bastards grind you down!

Sunday already!!
Total mileage this week equals 22 miles, not too bad!
At Mum & Dads at the moment and am feeling very full, huge Sunday dinner with chocolate pud to follow, well bloated!
Super Notts on telly this afternoon now they should win but I only saw one magpie driving over this morning which is a bit worrying so here's another!

Two weeks today till the Worksop half, proper eating and training now for fourteen whole days!!
see you Monday!

Worked late!
Get me! Company man! Don't think so just very busy and very pissed off!
So did not get home till 7.30pm and then I fancied a drink! No running to add to the ten miles already run this week. Am picking my kids up tonight, once they are fed and watered and as long as it is not chucking it down I will pop out for an hour!
Worksop half in two weeks and as long as I can better my GNR time I will be pleased.
cheers

Bad one!
Was off work yesterday, did some shopping and other bits & bobs! Was planning to go running about 2.00pm and do about six miles.
Well it started off ok but after about two miles I was totally knackered ended up only doing four and I didn’t run all that! Now the day before I had a long day driving to Luton airport and back in the early hours of the morning so was probably still tired from that. Also I don’t prepare well enough! When I am at work I make sure I drink plenty of water when I am at home I forget!!
Anyway am at work today and I am very busy stopping till at least 6.00pm but I will be going for a run tonight hopefully with a better result than yesterday.
This weekend, it is the weekend I don’t have my kids!, I have entered a 10k.
It is the Goose Fair Gallop at Kimberley. Never been to Kimberley before but according to the AA route finder it is 30 minutes from my house. So should be fun and will hopefully improve my fitness before the Worksop half!
Should find out soon whether I have got into next years London marathon not hopeful as it is the first time I have applied and I am not that lucky!
Cheers
ps. Did four miles Saturday.

Great game!
Stags 2 - 1 Oxford Utd, what a great game, fantastic!
Football rumours this morning are that Sol Campbell has quit Notts County not surprised he has a history of being a bit mardy! Think it will do the squad good galvanise the rest of the players.
After my night off last night it is out pounding the streets again tonight at least six miles. My next official race is the Worksop half marathon on the 25th October. But if the next week's training is ok I might sneak in a 10k before.
Am wearing my ankle support all the time at the moment it is getting better all the time, running is strengthening it and the only time it is sore is first thing in the morning but after a bit of stretching it is fine.
Cheers
