Happy New Year!

New Years Eve!

Not much of a fan!

But I do make resolutions, I find it is a good reset point, so after a night of bad food and alcohol tune in for my list.

As for running I have not been out for nearly three weeks, been busy at work then it was icy and now I have decided just to have a big blow out and start afresh in 2010, my new year starts on Monday the 4th so that is when my resolutions kick in!

So have a good one and count your blessings, see you in 2010!

2009 Running Stats

2009 has been my first complete year of running!

I have run 1 Full Marathon, 8 Half Marathons, 1 10mile, 4 10ks and 1 11k.
That is a total of 172.6 miles of competitive running!

I have a Full Marathon personal best of 4:18.29.
A Half Marathon personal best of 1:40.54
and a 10k personal best of 45.29!

My average over 13.1 miles (half marathon) was 1:47.03 and over 10k it was 49.26!

I have been injured once, my achilles which unfortunately resulted in me missing two races.

I have also joined a running club at Southwell which is great!

I have had a fantastic running year and achieved lot's of things I never thought I would and experienced some amazing highs.

Looking forward to a 2010 with lot's more running and targets to beat!

cheers

13/12/09 Bolsover Castle 11k Race Report

A fine brisk December morning and I was looking forward to this one. Again my preparation had not been perfect but I was hoping to get round in about 55 minutes. I had never been to Bolsover castle before and it is definitely worth a visit. The course itself was pretty flat one decent hill and a few boring straights. The last 1k was good though, running towards the castle along the battlements (what a great view!) and finishing in the courtyard. A sprint finish later and I came in with a chip time of 51.41 over three minutes better than I had hoped.

It was a well organised and very well marshalled race and the t-shirt is pretty good a proper running top.

Will run it again next year!

Bolsover Castle 11k Stats:
Time: 51.41 (chip time)
Position: 191 out of 686
Condition: Pleased and what a great place to finish!

Bolsover here I come!

On Sunday I am running in the Mizuno Bolsover Castle (see above)11k a chip timed race and definitely my last race of the year! I am still a bit bunged up so am going to take it steady and hopefully finish it in less than an hour!

It is also the first race I have entered as a member of the Southwell Running Club and because of that it is cheaper, now that I am affiliated to the AAC.

Bit of Christmas shopping tomorrow and some pasta eating ready for Sunday morning, will let you know how I got on next week!

Have a good one, David

I had a dream!

It is better to have had a dream and have that dream dashed, than to have never dreamed at all!

All bunged up!

Can’t seem to shake this cold! Feel fine apart from being all snotty which makes it difficult to breathe while running, so have not been out since Sunday. Am off to club night tomorrow for a steady 7 miles though in preparation for the 11k this weekend.

Plus points to not running is I have been able to watch the beautiful Claudia on ‘Strictly takes two’ very sexy!

Have received an email today inviting me to run in next years Ashby 20 which is a twenty mile road race however I think it is the weekend after the Kilomathon so I don’t know if I fancy running 16 miles one weekend then 20 the next though I am daft enough! Will have to give it some serious thought.

Finishing early today as I have my kids so must crack on!

Off home!

For an evening of weird dreams & hallucinations!

It's night time cold & flu drugs for tea!

cheers

06/12/09 Edwinstowe 10k Trail Race Report

First of all I was poorly! Bad head cold and should not have run it!

Ok, excuses made!

Suitably drugged up and dressed for a cold race it turned out to be quite warm! But very muddy and if I had not felt so bad it would have been fun.

Over 400 runners took part and like last year it was well organised with enthusiastic marshals playing Christmas music. I managed a sprint finish but couldn’t quite beat the chap in front of me. My time was a slightly disappointing 49.36 but considering my cold and the mud it’s not too bad.

Edwinstowe 10k Stats:
Time: 49.36
Position: 114 out of 433
Condition: Poorly!!

Friday, 4 December 2009

Whoops, I’ve done it again!

Entered another race!

The Mizuno Bolsover Castle 11k had a free Sunday and thought why not! It’s not far and it is one I have not done before. It is on the 13th and should be fun.

Hopefully I will have got over this cold am a bit bunged up so am now not expecting to go very quick on Sunday at Edwinstowe. Looking forward to getting nice and muddy though.

cheers
