Belton Cup 10k 01/04/12

Perfect weather actually ran in my new 'ABF The Soldiers Charity' vest. Same route as last year and still did not manage to run up the hill in one go!

Time was 49.51 which is a new PB for this course and I was very pleased managed a good sprint finish too.

To replace lost energy I had a very nice kangaroo burger, all in all a great day recommended a good race and a good show. Though you know you are getting old when included in the classic car display is a Mk.1 VW Golf.

cheers

Sunday, 1 April 2012

Perfect weather

and I think I beat my time?

Provisional results up later!

Saturday, 31 March 2012

Looking forward to it...

...hope the weather is ok!

Did six!

On the treadmill so in my mind harder!

Have packed my gear ready for tomorrow, trail shoes and possibly thermal top it has turned cold!

Got to get up that hill without walking!!

Friday, 30 March 2012

Running tonight...

...not far about 4 or 5 miles.

Have started my taper for London though I have got a race on Sunday the Belton Cup 10k which is a tough one all off road and one really steep hill. Need to concentrate on where you put your feet as very easy to twist an ankle and with London only three weeks away!!!

Can't wait!

Oh, best time on the revised Belton route is 50.10.

Monday, 26 March 2012

That was boring!

Sport Relief 6 miles it was six one mile laps!

Very boring and not the best organised ended up doing about 6.5 miles in 49.33 and at the finish there were no medals left :(

Worst of all my knees hurt so tonight some low impact training, exercise bike I think.

cheers

'5370'

My number for London starting to feel real!

Ashby 20 18/03/12

The rain in the night woke me up, it was chucking it down. Up at six for my porridge and it was still raining, left at eight and it was still raining!

Arrived at Ashby at nine and it was still raining!

Now the start is about a fifteen minute walk so wearing a bin bag off I went. The start was at ten and miraculously the rain slowed and after about two miles stopped and the sun started to come out.

The route is two laps which is horrible felt great until mile 17 when my hip started to hurt and I had forgotten my pain killers!!! So stretching, running, stretching for the last 3 miles I finished on a very muddy finish line in 3:02.27, it was tough as it was hilly but it was 20 miles and I am confident London will be ok (as long as I remember my pain killers) and at London I won’t have to drive myself back.

Roll on London.

Wednesday, 21 March 2012

Well...

...have just entered the Eyam half marathon! Supposed to be the toughest in England, go me!

Report on Ashby will follow, oh and I can walk now :)

Sunday, 18 March 2012

It stopped raining!

And the sun came out and it hurt, it really really hurt!

Full report when I have recovered.

Saturday, 17 March 2012

Chucking it down!

Has my luck finally run out?

Ashby 20 tomorrow!

Got my stuff ready I am number 233 and will be using this as my last long run before London! Want to do it in about 3 hours it is time running not speed which is important.

I have also entered the Sport Relief mile 10k at Oak Tree Leisure centre next Sunday a good cause and another race.

Report on Ashby when I get back tomorrow.

Friday, 16 March 2012

BIG SPAG BOLL!

Tomorrow!!

Here I am...

...card loading and looking forward to the Ashby 20.

Have also entered the Sport Relief mile 10k which is on the 25th excited about this and it is for a great cause.

Sleaford Half 19/02/12

Well not too bad was a bit worried I had not put in enough training but I felt pretty good. It was a bit windy and at least a mile is off road and was quite sticky. Managed a sprint finish (ish!) did not let the guy behind me pass me and finished in 1.44:52.

Very pleased to be honest! got a nice t-shirt too.

So next is the Ashby 20 better get some more miles into the old legs.

Well chuffed.

cheers

Well,

That was not too bad! Full report later when official results are out, I think about 1.46ish forgot to stop my watch.

But the sprint finish was back.

Saturday, 18 February 2012

Carb loading

Lot's of lovely pasta today!

Friday, 17 February 2012

Resting...

...my old legs for Sunday!

Tuesday, 14 February 2012

5.2 miles this morning!

Felt longer!

Going out again tonight for about eight miles making the most of the good weather. Quite enjoyed this morning though it did make a difference that the schools are on half term so I did not have to battle through loads of kids.

Hopefully my 'ABF' (Army Benevolent Fund) fund raising kit will be waiting for me when I get home. Has got me motivated again, well for one day at least.

cheers

Monday, 13 February 2012

Labels

I like my gear and I like labels!!

Currently I am running in 'Asics', shorts by 'Nike', top by whoever I am running for!

Oh! socks by 'Nike'

But I really like 'Adidas' was my shoe of choice when I started! Just don't like the green stuff!

Anyway have picked a charity to run for in 2012 just waiting to hear back and then all will be revealed.

Good night

Updated!

Have updated the races entered so far for 2012!

Hopefully lot's more to come.

Lot's of horrible, cold white stuff.

So running continued at the gym, 10k yesterday and hopefully 10k tonight. Still not sure about Sleaford yet.

Motivation is a bit low at the moment.

cheers

Friday, 3 February 2012

February!!!!!!!!!

Already!!

Still have not shook this cold off but I am running on the dreaded treadmill at the gym, 10k last night so should be ok for the Sleaford half. Not bothered about doing it quickly time running is more important as my main focus for the first half of this year is the London marathon.

Was supposed to have been watching super Notts tomorrow but that has been postponed due to a frozen pitch. So looks like the gym all day. What an exciting life I have.

cheers

Tuesday, 31 January 2012

Fingers crossed...

...starting to feel better.

Have not been out running for two weeks!! But I have been training at the gym (not the same!)tonight another 5k at the gym.

Will decide if I am doing Sleaford soon.

My leg's are hurting soooo much!

So no run today, hopefully a run tomorrow but typically it has turned cold! About time really.

Friday, 13 January 2012

I can run a marathon....

...but I play football for 80 minutes and my legs are starting to seize up!!!!!

Football was fun!

We played outside, a bit slippy but good. Most importantly did not get injured :)

Have worked out a 10 mile route which I am going to do Sunday should be quite nice am currently watching 'Lewis' dvd's and drinking my Dad's beer!
